Gives the opportunity to discuss topics around the issues that people, caring for an individual with intellectual disabilities, are experiencing in their everyday lives.
Participants are all artists with intellectual disabilities coming from the countries participating in the 2014 Special Olympics European Summer Games.
A jury of famous Belgian artists, art critics and experts will decide who will be invited to attend the SO2014 Art Exhibition in Antwerp. The selected works will be exposed for the complete duration of the Games and then sold during an auction.
The Young Athletes Program is an innovative sports program for children with intellectual disability aged 2 to 7 years. The program is designed to engage children with an intellectual disability in fundamental motor skills and foundational sports skills to improve their physical, cognitive and social wellbeing.
In addition, the Young Athletes Program aims to raise awareness and educate the public about the diverse abilities of children with intellectual disabilities, and provide a support network for families of young athletes through the Special Olympics Movement.
