Title: In Search of Innovative Collaboration for Better Integration Program Design: The program has been jointly designed by Antwerp Management School and HEC Management School - University of Liège.

Target Group: Participants who can relate to the inclusion in a personal or professional manner – the management community, the community surrounding athletes, non- and for profit organizations, academics as well as non-academics.

Project Unify

The Educational School Program aims to:
  • Inform school children on Special Olympics and its values.
  • Explain the athlete’s ability to contribute to society.
  • Unite school children and people with intellectual disabilities around sports activities.
  • Raise awareness of both the differences and similarities in their lives by inviting the children to experience these characteristics.
  • Make children share this experience to sensitize and challenge their family, friends and community.

Family Forum

Gives the opportunity to discuss topics around the issues that people, caring for an individual with intellectual disabilities, are experiencing in their everyday lives.

Art Exhibition

Art Exhibition

Participants are all artists with intellectual disabilities coming from the countries participating in the 2014 Special Olympics European Summer Games.
A jury of famous Belgian artists, art critics and experts will decide who will be invited to attend the SO2014 Art Exhibition in Antwerp. The selected works will be exposed for the complete duration of the Games and then sold during an auction.

Young Athletes

Young Athletes Program

The Young Athletes Program is an innovative sports program for children with intellectual disability aged 2 to 7 years. The program is designed to engage children with an intellectual disability in fundamental motor skills and foundational sports skills to improve their physical, cognitive and social wellbeing.
In addition, the Young Athletes Program aims to raise awareness and educate the public about the diverse abilities of children with intellectual disabilities, and provide a support network for families of young athletes through the Special Olympics Movement.

Torch Run

The Olympic Flame returns to Belgium!

  • The Flame of the Hope will leave from Olympia, Greece, before arriving in Belgium on the 9th of September 2014.
  • Over a periode of 4 days, The Law Enforcement Torch Run will travel through the country and attract as much attention as possible.
